Here you are! I was wondering when you’d show up.
So there you are, and below is me!
Well, kind of. The proportions are a bit off, but the colors are right.
So, about me?
Well, since you’re reading this on my blog, let me talk about that first.
About the Blog
Solid Writ3r is the answer to my own question, which is, “how do I become a writer”. I set into motion a habit to write every single day, and thus The Daily Paragraph was born. I’m not promising that it’ll always be exciting, I’m just saying that it’s my goal to keep it there. The Daily Paragraph is my daily primer into a writing oriented mindset, and I often do find it interesting to see what comes out.
As time goes on, I’ll be posting pieces of stories until completion, short works, ideas, poems, and honestly whatever I feel belongs in this virtual collage.
My goal is to become a published author, and currently, I am working on a short story that is loosely based on events in my life. In fact, part one of that story is already posted, and it is titled, “Breaking Fall”.
The positive quotes page is where you can find some truly thought provoking words of wisdom from some incredibly insightful men and women. I also will generally, if not always, provide some of my own thoughts as well. I hope you don’t mind.
Although I’m not much of a poet, and it know, I do, I still enjoy to play with words in poetic form from thyme to time. For now, I’m focusing my practice on sonnets. I’d love for you to let me know if you get anything out them, because my wife always tells me she doesn’t understand them.
As for the blog’s title – SolidWrit3r. The ‘solid’ aspect is simply to honor one of my favorite pieces of media, the video game, Metal Gear Solid. From the deep and sometimes insane characters to the needlessly yet deliciously complicated story, Metal Gear Solid has been tinkering with my mind since I was a wee lad. Not only that, but Solid Snake has got to be the most bad ass fictional character ever conceived. As for the ‘3’ in writer, that is, other than looking cool, an acknowledgement and sort of shout out to three of my favorite people, my brothers. I won’t say much about them, because they really aren’t all that interesting. 🙂
Finally, let me say this: I’m a good writer. Good, not great, and that’s been the case for a long time. I’ve tried many things in my short life, but nothing compares to the tapping keys of the keyboard when that idea just pours out onto the white page. It is also my goal to become a great writer, although I never foresee it coming to fruition. In some ways, I hope it never does, because that goal alone should be enough to keep me going until my time is up.
I’m in my late twenties, and I love to create. Since I was a kid, I’ve enjoyed playing video games, and I’ve watched quite an extensive collection of films. I like Mexican food, and I love going to the ocean. I would love to become a successful author, because I really have hated pretty much every job I’ve had.
I grew up as the oldest of three boys in Cleveland, TN, then, after I was grown, mom had another boy. My parents divorced when I was a kid, but I don’t think we boys ever blamed ourselves for it. I’ve been married to my wife for five years.
I don’t want to crowd this page, so I’m going to be doing more about me in the form of journal entries. If you’re interested, try hovering your mouse over the ‘About Me’ page at the top, and that should open up the journal page. Or just click on this link!
If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading this. Let me know what you think of my progress, because I’m craving some feedback. Take care of yourself, and be mindful of others.
